Questions
Do I need to be in Cardiff?
No. Most work runs remotely over video calls and post. In-person meetings happen in Cardiff when it genuinely helps, but nothing about the process requires it.
What do I need to send an enquiry?
Whatever you've got. Sketches, a reference garment, photos, a rough budget in mind. If all you have is an idea, that's a fine place to start too.
What is a toile?
A toile is a test version of your garment, sewn in cheap, undyed cotton called calico. It proves the pattern and fit work before we touch your real fabric.
How long does development take?
Indicative and dependent on workload, confirmed in writing with your quote. As a guide: a pattern takes 5 to 10 working days, a toile 7 to 14, a finished sample 10 to 20, a tech pack 5 to 7. Work needed faster than the agreed turnaround carries a 25% rush surcharge.
Do you do small production runs?
Yes. We brief your factory, manage sample rounds and sign off pre-production on your behalf, for runs of most sizes.
Who owns the patterns?
You do, from final payment. The pattern, toile and tech pack files are yours once the project is paid in full.
What are the payment terms?
50% deposit before work begins, balance on completion and before files or samples are released. Overdue invoices carry statutory interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, and work pauses until the account is settled. Full terms are on Services.
What if I only have a sketch, no reference garment?
That's normal. A sketch is enough to send an enquiry, we'll work out what else we need (measurements, fabric, references) as part of the process.
